Minor amounts of mica on the split surfaces of this Idaho quartzite give it a special shine that perfectly complements the stone's gold and silver coloring. Star Stone's Idaho quarries produce quartzite with little to no water absorption and notable durability in freeze/thaw weather.
Random rectangles formed by the stone’s natural fissures give Sawtooth its rugged and sturdy appearance. Sawtooth is the pattern nature uses on her steep river canyon walls.
